Front Landscape Transformation with Drainage Improvements in Columbia, MD

The project began with the complete removal of all existing trees, shrubs, and outdated landscaping. Rather than working around an aging design, we cleared the space entirely to create a clean foundation for a new landscape that better complemented the home and provided long-term performance.
To create a more balanced and impactful design, we expanded the existing landscape beds by removing sections of lawn and redefining the bed lines. The larger planting areas allowed for a more natural layout with greater visual depth and year-round interest while reducing unnecessary turf maintenance.
Before installing the new landscape, we addressed an important functional concern by installing a custom underground drainage system. Buried PVC piping was installed beneath the landscape and routed to a pop-up emitter, safely carrying excess stormwater away from the home and newly planted beds. Incorporating drainage improvements during the installation helps protect the landscape investment while minimizing future erosion and standing water issues.
Once the drainage system was complete, premium topsoil was added throughout the expanded beds to establish proper grade and provide an ideal growing environment for the new plant material. With the foundation complete, our crew installed more than 45 carefully selected trees, shrubs, and ornamental plants, creating a landscape with texture, color, and year-round appeal.
